Bradycardia: heart beat too slow.
Physically active adults (and some athletes) can have a resting heart rate slower than 60 BPM but it doesn’t cause problems and is normal for them. People heart rate can fall below 60 BPM during deep sleep. However, if the slow heart rate causing problems such as insufficient blood flow to the brain, hard to breathe, nausea, dizziness, or loss of conscious, feeling like it’s hard to exercise, chest pain. In extreme cases, cardiac arrest may occur, then people needs to seek treatment.
Causes of bradycardia
1)Problems with the sinoatrial (SA) node.
2)Problems of pathways of the heart/electrical impulses
3)Metabolic problems such as hypothyroidism
4)Damage to the heart
5)Medications can cause a slow heartbeat
Some prolonged or repeated symptoms Can usually be corrected with an artificial pacemaker to speed up the heart rhythm as needed.
