First, heel pain can be plantar fasciitis (bottom of the heel) and Achilles tendinitis (back of the heel).
Achilles tendinitis is not as often to happen on people as plantar fasciitis. It is an overuse injury of the Achilles tendon, the band of tissue that connects calf muscles at the back of the lower leg to your heel bone. Often it starts when runner increases his intensity and duration or for middle-aged people starts his exercise suddenly.
If over-the-counter pain medications — such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) or naproxen (Aleve) — aren’t enough, conventional medicine usually will try corticosteroids or surgery.
Acupuncture is a non-invasive nature therapy which is quite effective and helpful in treating achilles tendinitis.
