Black cohosh 「黑升麻」 has commonly been used to treat symptoms of menopause, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), painful menstruation, acne, weakened bones (osteoporosis), and for starting labor in pregnant women.
Black cohosh has also been tried for a lot of additional uses, such as anxiety, rheumatism, fever, sore throat, and cough, but it is not often used for these purposes these days.
Some doctor research caution that use of Black cohosh has to monitor the liver condition as it might cause auto immune attack on liver.
St. John’s wort 圣约翰草
There is some believed that St. John’s wort may be helpful in treating mild depression. However,
two large studies, one sponsored by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), showed that the herb was no more effective than placebo in treating major depression of moderate severity; ironically, the conventional drugs also studied did not fare any better than placebo, either.
